Dr. Peppard

What can I expect will happen when I come to the office for my first visit?

You can expect to spend about 1 to 1.5 hours with us for your first visit. After you complete filling out your forms, we may offer to show you a brief informative video on chiropractic. If you have never been to a chiropractor, this could be of great benefit to help you get the most out of your visit.   Next we will discuss your health concerns, exam you, and take x-rays, if needed.  If it appears that you have a condition which is out of the scope of our practice, we will advise you to seek care from a more appropriate healthcare provider. If our findings indicate that you may benefit from chiropractic care, we will provide you with some short term recommendations and advise you to return to our office.

What happens next?

Very often we will begin a brief trial of care and over the next few visits we will get a good idea of how you respond.

When will I know if you can help me for sure?

After we have had an opportunity to become familiar with you, we will meet in a Report of Findings visit. At this time, we will address the four concerns patients have first and foremost on their minds: What’s wrong with me?  Can you help me? How long will it take? How much will it cost?

Do I get to decide what care I receive?

Of course you do!  We will always make recommendations for you that we feel will help you reach your maximum potential. Often times, you will be given a few care options to chose from depending upon your health goals.

Does getting a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

When done properly, receiving a chiropractic adjustment does not hurt. Occasionally a patient may experience minor discomfort if they have an inflammatory process in progress as the doctor attempts to do a chiropractic adjustment, but more often than not, a suitable technique is used to minimize the chances of an event like this occurring.  There are many different chiropractic techniques used today, and many of them are very gentle.

I don’t have neck or back pain.  Should I still consider going to see a chiropractor?

Yes! Everyone should have his spine screened periodically to see if there is a joint misalignment beginning as soon as his birthday.  Misalignments or subluxations, as chiropractors call them, can be painless at first and may not cause obvious symptoms for sometimes even months or years. Just like high blood pressure, glaucoma, dental cavities, and high cholesterol may not cause people to experience immediate pain, they are problems that  are routinely screened for even though the patient may feel fine and mistakenly think they are healthy.

Does your office offer any other services besides chiropractic adjustments?

Yes. We also offer physiotherapy modalities such as diathermy, ultrasound, and electric stimulation to compliment the adjustments.  Many patients also benefit greatly by receiving massage therapy or myofascial release from one of our trained therapists in addition to chiropractic care.  And finally, we offer general or specific nutritional counseling to insure that your body is receiving the best fuel and building blocks possible to help you maintain your good health.
